People often ask, “Why Pole dancing?”

“Jennifer, how on earth did you get into an exercise like pole dancing???”

Why Pole Dancing?

I started my affair with pole innocently enough, by signing up for my first pole class back in May 2010.  I was looking for a new way to get back in shape, but I dreaded the whole typical gym experience. It made me uncomfortable to workout, people might laugh at my lack of athletic skills and body. I wanted to feel supported, and nurtured, and I wanted to have FUN.

The first moment my warm hands embraced the cold chrome I knew it was something special, and from the first spin I was hooked! Letting my body flow freely to the music, I wrapped by body around the pole over and over. The movements made me feel vibrant, alive and purposeful. I discovered joy in flipping my hair around in circle, gyrating my hips and sliding seductively to the floor. There was passion in my blood as I strutted, slithered and shook out my frustrations with regular workouts.

Now don’t think I took to the pole as naturally as I made that sound, I was unable to do most of the moves taught in class due to my lack of strength, coordination and overall lack of confidence. I basically spun straight to the floor, but I loved it. I found a new ME. And after that, I kept coming back. Because pole dancing is something that cannot be learned in an hour, or 2 or even 3. Pole dancing is a challenge every time I use the pole. It requires arm, leg, & core strength. It demands flexibility. It begs for me to express myself. Pole dancing is something I will work to improve forever, a little bit, each day.

If you have ever thought about trying a class now is the time!
